review 1: Fantastic trip into the Aberdonian underworld once again. I think this is such a good series...such humour and dark plots. Having lived in Aberdeen, a lot of the in jokes are cracking and you get a real sense of whats going on. The ending felt a little rushed, with a few things unresolved...perhaps the first half of the book could have been a touch more concise, to free up the space for a lengthier finale. LOVE DI Steel....find her hilarious. Logan is finally cracking from the strain. I am hoping that he doesn't hit rock bottom in the next book as these books can be dark, the scene is usually pretty dark (this being the rare example with aberdeen in summer!) and the final 150 pgs had such a different feel to them as Logan's ability to cope went out the window. Would be jus... moret too grim. But as we know, we are not at home to mister fuck up....so, perhaps it won't go that way!
review 2: The fifth Logan McRae book in the series. Always a nice book to sink into. The plot is winding enough to keep me turning the pages. While the characters aren't as strong as some of the other series characters that I'm reading, they're still quirky enough to keep me coming back for more. McRae continues to be the black sheep on the police force, solving crime his own way. I love DI Steel...she keeps me laughing out loud. I'm sure I've met this woman somewhere! If not, I'd like to. less
