review 1: This is a well-crafted novel that alternates between the present day and the cataclysmic events of forty plus years ago. It is a story of, for lack of a better word, a forbidden love that tears two families apart. There is a lot to like in this novel including the realistic perspective of how much things have changed from the fifties and sixties. This is not just the love story of two women however. It is also an honest depiction of how the bonds of love between siblings and between parents and children can endure for a lifetime.
review 2: I started out enjoying this book a lot. It's set in the 60s, which is cool because that's when I was a little girl. The 2 women were good friends, and I thought it was a easy, fun read. About 100 pages in, I realized the sto
... morery was taking a turn I didn't expect, and the relationship between the friends was heading in a direction I wasn't ready to take. I decided to abandon this book by an author I love, and move on less
