review 1: 4.5 Stars. This is a story about 2 women, Billie & Eva and is set in the early 1960s when housewives stayed home to raise children & obey their husbands. Makes you realize what a different & unaccepting time it was. This is not your typical love story, yet it was tender & beautiful... I couldn't put it down. The ending made me cry, which was a little awkward since I was reading it while walking on the treadmill at the YMCA! Very well written & would totally recommend.
review 2: This was a great read. Set in the 1960’s this book brings to light how different and unaccepting the world was then if you didn’t fit into the mold of perfect housewife. Abusive husbands were excused while housewives were expected to put up with their lot in life and were ostracize... mored should they dare to step beyond the “norm” of the decade. This is a tender love story, made more heartbreaking as had this been set in this decade obstacles would have been overcome and life would have been easier, more honest and fulfilling. T. Greenwood is a new author to me and I look forward to reading all she has written. less
