review 1: 4.25 stars for yet another great T. Greenwood book! This is the 3rd book I have read by her and I just love her writing style! They pull you right in and are just so easy to immerse yourself into! I loved Bodies of Water the most, but I really enjoyed this book as well. I liked this one a little more than Grace. I love how some of the characters reappear in several of her stories - yet each story is its own and not part of any series. THis is a story of loss, forgiveness and hope! The family is struggling with the loss of a teenage daughter and sister. Each family member is struggling in a different way and it felt very real, emotional and believable to me. Sam, the father, is a famous writer and takes his family back to Vermont to a lake house where they had spent so many... more summers together. He hopes to rebuild his marriage, reconnect with his teenage son & cure his writers block. There is also another character named Dale who is obsessed with Sam's books and herself dealing with many issues, as she takes a roadtrip alone in search of meeting him. The plot goes back and forth until a suspenseful climax and is very hard to put down towards the end. I look forward to reading more by this author!
review 2: The struggles of the family after the death of a daughter were interesting - how they each coped. But I never believed in the daughter's death - she died of anorexia, suddenly, and no one seemed to know she was in trouble. But she was a ballet dancer - who would have been wearing leotards, tight-fitting clothes. The teacher would have seen the depth of her problem. This loose end kinda ruined the book for me... less
