review 1: Not bad since I had no clue what to expect from this book. Received it as a gift & normally I don't like to read books someone is handing to me. Interesting, but surreal story with mystical turns containing bats, vampires, obsessive love, drugs & guns. And is ATF that dumb with no resources? Not seeing undercover agent taking trips on a side with his wife? Cartel leaders trusting a new person? Cartel not seeing him taking the trips? Making phone calls? One person army surviving all the shootings? Storming in & out of the hospital? Oh, wait. It's a novel.
review 2: I have been reading TJB for decades and this is the ONLY disappointing book I have ever read authored by him (to date). I love this series too, but this book just didn't fit the bill. It was too fa
... morer-fetched, not convincing, tried to cover way too many locations, characters, etc. Just did NOT have the chemistry I am used to reading (or listening to) in TJP's books.Clearly, LA Outlaws (the first Charlie Hood book) is the best I have listened to so far; really loved it and recommended it to many people I know. Hopefully, Charlie Hood #5 (The Jaguar) will be better, which I think it will as it seems it focuses mostly on Bradley Jones, and I like that character. less

Not as bad as the previous book in the series, but the main character really wasn't...

A little slow at first but overall a good read.

Less than one star - as in 1/4 of a star.

Very extreme. Not for everyone.
