review 1: My first book by Tabatha Vargo and I Loved It! Playing Patience is so well written with an amazing story about two characters, Patience and Zeke, that are from completely opposite sides of the track yet both suffer from a not so happy home life. The circumstances that bring the two of them together are not the greatest but you can feel how drawn to one another they are. Zeke being the bad boy rocker he is thinks he will only drag this pure Snowflake known as Patience down and trys to push her away at every turn. Patience sees Zeke for more than the tough guy he shows everyone else. This book is so much more than the typical rocker meets good girl love story and I would highly recommend it to anyone.
review 2: There are several major plus factors for this book.
... moreFirst and foremost, the realism of Patience our lead. I felt like I totally got her her up until she caved to sleep with Zeke so soon after another moment. But still got her and her dialogue. Even though I didn't like Zeke objectifying women, I still got his motives as an escape of his life and home turmoil. I loved that this wasn't an insta love book but the characters showed development throughout the book. There were also some really great one liners that I loved. One example, "she was the sense of peace I'd been searching for in all the wrong places." Love that. The big negatives for me included there was no recourse for either dad and the time lapse between the last chapter and epilogue. I'm very very glad I have 1.5 already because I'm sure it's covered in there. I enjoyed the author's easy writing style and conversation development. I do however wish some of the grammar and probably autocorrect mistakes would have been caught prior to print such as "hole" instead of "whole" or "gas hand" instead of "gas tank", even one character's name was misspelled. In addition, I don't think it was until the end drive to Florida that I even knew the setting was in South Carolina. Because of the Spanish outside of the trailer park in the beginning, I just thought this was set in a large city in Texas or Cali. Regardless, a solid rock star romance read. less
