review 1: maybe because I'm used to family being noisy so I'm not bothered by it as much as other reviewers, but I really liked this book. World is barely sketched but characters are great, and dialogues and actions are really funny. I like how people are so aside normal american in their moral and behaviour. That is how someone who is not completely human should be: different. I like this second book even better than the first. Maybe because I find the character closer to what I am.
review 2: 3.5 Stars. It's not a bad novel, and i enjoyed the reading of it.However- I just do not find the Gales as entrancing as Huff seems to assume i will. pretty much all of them are piece3s of work, and their almost-infinite powers do not seem to come along with any sort of respect for o
... morethers or ethics, necessarily. And when they do- it seems almost accidental.I guess the whole "specialness" of the Gales really puts me off. it starts to sound almost like a cult. "Gale girls" and "Gale boys", and they are oh-s0o-special, and while there are Rules, these are not generally ones that make sense practially in today's world.I guess i am irritated by the "Gale-centrism" of these, without any question as to whether or not that's a GOOD ting. It starts to feel like a weird cult.I like most of Tuff's other novels much better, except for the assasin ones which for me had a similar problem. Plus the main character's brother was dead creepy.I'll probably continue to read this series- but I like most of her older work more. less

verdict
Not Ms. Huff's best, but still quite enjoyable. Looking forward to reading more about the Gales.
