review 1: 4.5Ironically, I read the other titles in this series before this one, because menage is just not my bag, baby. But after reading the rest in this series (and loving them) I knew I couldn't put this one off any more. David and his two Aussies kept appearing in the other books in this series, and I had to admit I was intrigued. Especially by David's character. Every time he appeared in the other books, I kind of swooned, what with his Adonis-like good looks and his cute silk kimonos and skinny jeans. So I bit the bullet and finally read this one, and I loved it. It might be my favorite in the series. If I were a gay man, I would want to be David. I mean, who wouldn't? He's freaking gorgeous, he has great style, he runs an art gallery, he lives in an awesome house in an aweso... moreme California beach town, and he managed to snag not just one but two Aussie Alpha Volleyball-playing hotties for his very own. And he has great hair. Did I mention that? The only problem with the book was its ending. It was just way too abrupt. I was taken aback by it. If there had just been one more chapter of sorting through the emotional aftermath of adding Edge to the relationship, I think I would have felt better about it. But the fact that these three characters keep reappearing in the other books in the series does soften the blow. You get glimpses into how they are doing in their unconventional relationship.
review 2: A cute, short read featuring David, gallery owner, noticeably gay, and addicted to alpha men. Unfortunately, that addiction hasn't turned out too well for him in the past, as his ex-lover shows, and so he's trying to avoid all things (and men) alpha. The Australian beach volleyball players Gareth and Edge queer his pitch in that regard, though. Physically big and intimidating, they are exactly David's type and they don't leave him alone either: Gareth in a very good and sexy way, Edge in a not-so-good, homophobically-flavoured way. But can David's and Gareth's chemistry have a chance, when Gareth has to return to Australia soon? And what's causing Edge's hostility?Maybe I should give a fair warning beforehand: this is a ménage book, so if you don't like that, stay clear. I found it to be sweet and entertaining, though, nothing spectacular plot- or writing-wise and rather predictable, but I enjoyed reading it anyhow. I bought the rest of the series pretty soon after reading this story - this sort of book just strikes me as perfect when you look for something short and easy, without too much depth or emotional involvement.I guess what I found rather unrealistic was the easiness of the transition from twosome to threesome. I've read and thought about quite a few books featuring ménage relationships (it's a guilty pleasure of mine), and as much as I like the concept of polyamory, I imagine it to be quite difficult for the people involved, at first at least - you'd have to deal with initial jealousy, miscommunication, societal restraints, difficult reactions from outside, and so on. All this is just left out here which makes the whole thing a bit too easy for me.Still, all in all, an enjoyable read if you're in the mood for something light and predictable. less

Why is this book so short??? Those Aussie volleyball players needed a much longer story!
