review 1: This was a fairly fun story. It was pretty short, and as a result often felt like it was a little lacking in detail - a lot of stuff that Brooks would usually spend a bit more time on gets skipped over quickly. The plot was enjoyable, though it somehow felt simultaneously too big and too small - the threat of a warlock seems should be a bigger deal, and yet it's taken care of fairly quickly. Still, it was really great to see more of Garet Jax and get to see a bit of what makes him tick, since he's definitely one of my favorite characters from the series. As with Allanon, I'd like to see more about him, though unlike Allanon I want more Garet Jax adventures simply because he's a really fun character to read about. Over all, while this could have been better, it's pretty goo... mored for what it is - a short story that expands on the world a bit while also promoting the new trilogy of books.
review 2: A short story set in the Huge Shannara world... featuring the weapons Master Garet Jax... a character from one of the Shannara series from several years ago. It was a fun, fast read. I read it in one sitting, but highly enjoyable. Garet Jax was one of those fun characters in the story you always wanted to know a little more about. I think Terry Brooks could write more short stories with Garet Jax and I would read them... kind of like a mini series.... less

Very well written, but depressive story. Could have been a little bit longer.
