review 1: A little too formulaic for me. While I loved going back to the Four Lands, I didn't like the Deus ex Machina resolutions--some antagonists' fate were sealed by another antagonist. And an old faerie saved one of the characters. I sure hope that Terry Brooks push the limits of his writing soon. Otherwise, the series would be more of the same, which is sad because the Four Lands has probably much more tales to reveal.
review 2: A good book, but not a great one. Too many senseless and empty character deaths. Too little time spent on making something that is meaningful and lasting. Too much casual use of priceless artifacts with too little attention to their value and need for preservation and protection. People not behaving as people who really care deeply about ea... morech other really would act.But it was a fun story, and an interesting bridge between a post-apocalyptic world and a high fantasy world. less
