The Long Earth
review 1: I really hoped to like this book more. I found it a bit overworked while simultaneously not being fully realized, which sounds odd but that's what I felt as I was reading it. There were so many things going on, too many pieces to the puzzle, and not enough of them came together as a unified "Ah, that's what this is about" moment. I also had the sense that they finished this book already setting up for the next which is only good if you are left WANTING a next, which I totally wasn't.So while I liked the idea, overall, from The Long Earth I'm not quite as engaged by The Long War and I don't know if I'll read a Long anything else. That said, I still have Stephen Baxter on my to-read list and, of course, I still adore Pratchett.
review 2: I so wanted to enjoy this
... morebook but it left me unsatisfied. Whilst the first in the series was excellent this one seems to spend to much time setting up future stories. I hold out hope for the franchise yet but this one was underwhelming. The individual adventure story arcs seemed stilted and unfinished as if they were cut down to fit within a certain number of pages. The theoretical background and the exploration of the changes to human physiology were amazing but this did not save it. less

I still enjoyed the book, but so much more could have been done with all the different worlds.

A tiny little bit boring, but nice language makes it ok.
