The Long Earth

review 1: This is a much better entry in The Long Earth series than its predecessor, as here the characters feel slightly less mechanical, and more self-motivated. There are still areas where the plot feels a bit forced, but the world feels much more lived-in, and there are some fun new characters/entities that may be worth the wait. If you gave the first book a try, but felt that it fell flat, this may be well worth the second chance.
review 2: I enjoyed the concept, the premise of this series, however this veered too far towards political fiction for me. It's still an excellent work of science fiction (speculative fiction?), but I hope that the next installment will get back towards speculative part rather than preaching certain points of view and ideas (not that I di... moresagree with those ideas, I simply enjoy fiction in fiction and politics in non-fiction, if at all). less
