review 1: When a mummy is found in the Crispin Museum, the Jane is invited to the MRI to determine the sex of the mummy called Madame X. Surprisingly, the mummy is found to have modern day fillings. The mummy is not old, it is a modern woman who has been turned into a mummy. So starts the mystery of a duo of killers to are intent on killing a woman after chasing her for 20 years. A variety of mummies, shrunken heads, and bog bodies are being created by the duo. Good mystery with lots of twists and turns.

... morece change of pace for the series reader while allowing more insights into the enigmatic and multi-faceted secondary protagonist of Isles. Unlike the TV series which tends to take a lighter, more casual approach to Boston and New England area crimes, the novels pull a reader deep into the city of Boston and a world of a privately endowed museum, mummification, archeology and powerful families. Conflict galore. less
