review 1: * ARC PROVIDED BY THE AUTHOR FOR AN HONEST REVIEW * One to Love is book four of the One to Hold Series by Tia Louise. It can be read as a standalone or in sequence to the series. The story is told in dual POVs with a HEA. There is also an epilogue given in another, familiar character’s POV setting up book five of the series.New beginnings. Are they possible? After suffering a soul crushing loss, is it possible to find love again? To feel love again? To give love again? To begin again?“The sun sets to rise again.”Kendra Woods decides that after five years she is tired of wallowing in the past. Starting with a new hair color to help bring back the spunk, and the advice of Patrick and Mariska, she thinks she is finally ready to take that first step. To move forward and ... moreleave the past behind. Along with the pain, the sorrow, the guilt. Then a cruel reality strikes, making her doubt her decision to move on. Or so she thought.“Everything about me was wrong until you appeared.”Second chances. Are they possible? After a haunting and troubled past, is it possible to find love? To feel love? To be worthy of love? To get a second chance at life?“Every breath is a second chance.”Oh Slayde Bennett! A broody ex-fighter with a tortured soul all wrapped up in a beautiful, perfect bad boy package. With muscles, tattoos, and piercing blue eyes to boot. Slayde is looking to leave his past behind him and keep his head low. Then a fate encounter changes it all.“How is it possible I came here thinking I’d fade away, and I found you?”When Kenny and Slayde finally take the risk, it is more than either of them could have ever expected. Their relationship seems to progress rapidly, scaring them both. But what they both do not know is that their feelings are exactly the same and love has no sense of time."Life teaches, Love reveals."Regardless, Slayde still struggles daily with his feelings of worthlessness when it comes to Kenny. Feeling as if he is not worth her time, her heart, her love.“…slide my worthless hands down her beautiful body in a prayer of thanks to all of the gods who might give a sh*t about a loser like me.”While Kenny struggles to get Slayde to open up, let her in, and let her help heal his past pains. Because her love for him is all-consuming.“You’re like air and water and everything I need to survive.”As their relationship progresses, Slayde decides it's finally time to confess his ugliest of sins and Kenny is ready to absolve them with her love. They hope to heal together, that their love will be enough. Until a mutual acquaintance brings it all crashing down. Revealing the past in just the blink of an eye. Making fate seem like some cruel joke."We were like pawns in some horrible, cosmic chess match, and we had no idea."One to Love is one of the best reads of the year. Seriously! I loved everything about this book. Ev-er-y-thing! Heart wrenching yet heartwarming. Passionate and sexy with enough heat to set the sheets ablaze, yet warm and loving. The feelings are in full force. I cried, I laughed, I broke, I loved. I felt it all. I wanted to be Kenny's best friend and I wanted to help heal Slayde's tortured heart. Tia Louise brought it all and her words did not disappoint. Beautifully written with heart stopping moments of pure love and pure pain. One minute my heart would soar and the next it would be ripped from my chest. At times, I did not know if it could get better, if I could feel better. But then the storm would stop, the clouds would part, and the sun would shine love and light, making me feel silly forever doubting TL in the first place. With familiar characters, and new ones, TL brings us a must read book of the year about a romance started by loss, fueled by passion, and healed through love.“True love destroys fears. It covers sins.”Six Sizzling, Sexy, Soul Searching StarsWritten by Alycia for Summer’s Book Blog
review 2: Yes I loved this book as I loved all of Tia Louise’s before this but I have to admit to being able to predict what Slayde’s past was. I guess I have read so many novels that I am able to see these story lines quickly!!Despite all of this I couldn’t help but love the ride that was Kenny and Slayde’s story. I loved them both. Kenny for how she deals with her past loss and Slayde for how he is wearing his past and is trying to be a better person. I have to admit to having a new favourite male lead of Tia Louise’s. I can’t help but feel guilty, however Slayde with his tattoos and angst….sigh.The story is an erotic one and yet at the same time the romance between the two has you sighing and going ahhhh due to the sweetness of it!!I am so pleased to have discovered Tia Louise as she truly is amazing at weaving the tales that she does. I have fallen in love with all of her characters thus far and I cannot wait to fall in love with more. Please note that all of her novels can be read as standalones although the characters appear throughout the series.I was lucky enough to receive a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. less
