review 1: 'Broken Ferns' is the first and only book I've read in this series. But from complex story about Lei, I will definitely read the first three books and the ones following this novel. The storyline pulled me in from the beginning. I literally did not put the book down. I loved how the story played out. A lot of roller coaster emotions were tied in to Lei's character. There were twists, thrilling action scenes and the characters were amazing. I loved every thing about this book. The descriptive nature that Toby Neal brought forth gave me the feeling of being a part of the story, from the scenic aspect to the day to day life of the characters. And that, at least for me, is a difficult task. Well written. This is definitely a must add to your tbr list, as well as the whole seri... morees. Highly recommended.
review 2: It's not often that I've found a book this deep into a series that is as good as all of the others, but this one is. Reconnecting with previous characters has been entertaining. Meeting new characters has been fun too. Who doesn't love a Robin Hood story? I think anyone who has had to work hard to make ends meet while seeing how others don't seem to have to try at all to get richer can sympathize with Consuelo. I think it would be interesting to see what happens with her in the future. Lei continues to grow and mature and I can't help but to look forward to more of her story! less

Inventive criminal....for me, an ambivalent ending for the healing & emotionally growing Lei
