review 1: The story was ok and what I've come to expect from Toby Neal but she needed to keep notes and a timeliness while writing this. (spoiler alert) How am I supposed to believe the CEO of a corporation, their assistant, and the legal department are all at work and dress for business on the same day she goes to Sunday dinner w her parents? Or that after a gun shot she's out the next day? I've had a family member shot by a criminal, you don't get out of the hospital that quickly. Or that the Nobel Prize is awarded that quickly on an experiment that has not been peer reviewed or duplicated yet? How do all her co-workers know about Marcus but in the next Lei series, she keeps him a secret from Lei at first? I just couldn't suspend that much disbelief and was disappoi... morented.
review 2: This was a fast-paced suspense romance with plenty of mystery and unpredictability. Marcella was a likeable heroine with an abusive past that keeps her distant from relationships. At no point during the mystery was I absolutely sure that I knew who'd done it...so that is a definite plus for this story. Another plus was the developing relationship between Marcella and Marcus (although on the negative side was the realism of how quickly he fell in love and how quickly she abandoned her abusive past in order to trust him...). So no the whole an average, yet entertaining reading experience. less

This book is part of a series I am reading. It's about FBI agents solving crimes in Hawaii.

Good mystery with some romance. Had me guessing until the very end about who did it.
