review 1: Strega Nona is asked by a cousin to take his daughter for awhile. She is attracting far too much male attention except from the one person she truly wants it from.When Angelina arrives at Strega Nona's house she takes over. She makes Bambolona her maid and Big Anthony her footman! She redecorates the room she is given and is generally bossy and unpleasant. But Strega Nona knows how to take care of self-involved people. She has a plan...Strega Nona lovers will enjoy this story. However wonderful de Paola's illustrations are they are sometimes confusing and don't tell the story well.Not recommended for storytime as much of the story is told in pictures.
review 2: dePaola's illustrations never disappoint me as I love the folk art style. While I enjoyed the story ... moreof a relative overstaying their welcome as well as the theme of the two vain lovers who definitely deserved each other, I am wondering what child is going to enjoy this story. Seems like the humor of it will strike a chord with adults and not children. Also his dedication to Bernadette Peters regarding her hair is just a bit interesting and oh, yes it is very obvious that his character, Angelina has Bernadette hair. less
