review 2: Precious Blood (Book 1 of the Blessed series), by Tonya Hurley“Three lost girls, each searching for something. But what they find is beyond belief.Lucy, Cecelia and Agnes find themselves in the emergency room of a Brooklyn hospital at their lowest points. All are rebels running from their lives and themselves, plagued by broken hearts and broken dreams.Enter Sebastian: mysterious, compelling, seductive. He brings each of them what she longs for… but in the battle for his heart, will the girls lose their souls?”Yet another book I had for my birthday by a fellow Queen of Teen shortlisted author! This wasn’t quite what I was expecting, but it was definitely an interesting read! From the description, I was expecting something more along the lines of fantasy, so when religion played a substantial part in this, I was pretty surprised. It also had less romance in than I was anticipating from the blurb. The book was written in third person, so you got to see different characters – not just Cecelia, Lucy and Agnes – and learn what part they played in the story, too, which was great when it got to a point where you didn’t know who to trust anymore! There was a brilliant twist, too, that I so did not see coming. It took me a while to get into this, and while I did think it moved a little too quickly sometimes, I was keen to finish it and see what happened to the girls, and if Sebastian really was the bad guy. It was tense, there was mystery, and I absolutely loved loved loved Cecelia! She was totally awesome.(Also, just in case any of you are thinking of reading, there may be a slight trigger warning right at the start, with a suicide attempt by one of the characters? I mean, you don’t see the actual attempt; the book starts with the three girls in the ER on the same night, and one of the girls is there from a suicide attempt. So yeah, I’m throwing that out there just in case.)I did feel like I wanted to see more of what the girls felt at times, because there was a lot going on and I wondered what they were thinking and that wasn’t always explained. An enjoyable read (despite not being what I was anticipating!) and I expect I’ll buy the next book to see what happens to the girls, but right now I’m going to move on to reading some of the other Queen of Teen and YALC authors! Next up – Entangled, by Cat Clarke. less

this is so far a good book. It is very dark and eerie and has many supernatural elements to it.

The reason that i gave it 3 stars is because it was so confusing at the begginig
