review 1: After a mysterious ad appears in the newspaper with little information except that they are looking for gifted children, a whole bunch of children show up for a bunch of strange tests, puzzles and riddles, and in the end, four children end up joining the secret Mysterious Benedict Society, where they are sent as spies to a school run by a madman who wants to control the world - and is nearly succeeding. After their first adventure, the Mysterious Benedict Society for more adventures - tracking down the missing Mr. Benedict, and finding a way to escape the evil Mr. Curtain and stop his plans once again. This new series is a wonderful read. The characters are original and fun, and their gifts and talents are impressive. Constance especially makes me laugh. I especially love h... moreow she passes her tests in the first book. Some of her answers (and actions) are hilarious! There are a lot of books out there about children who must save the world, but I think this series manages to set itself apart from most, and is one worth reading.Recommended for grades 4 and up.
review 2: The mysterious Benedict society is an amazing series about four kids. They have all passed a test, and by doing so they became spies. My favorite character in the series is Constance. She is only 3 years old in the first book. Constance has many special abilities that she contributes to the team. My favorite book in the series is The Mysterious Benedict Society. This is the first book in the series. I really enjoyed trying to solve all of the crazy riddles, even though I couldn't figure them out. My favorite part is when they find out that Constance is only three. Trenton Lee Stewart has also written a book filled with riddles and puzzles to solve, just like the Mysterious Benedict Society does. I would highly recommend this series for young readers. :) less
