review 1: I almost didn't finish this book, and a year later the most memorable thing about it is the sudden unexpected massive earthquake that nearly gave me a panic attack, reading it not very many months after actually surviving one. Rating should be more like two and a half stars honestly. It was pretty average and is solved by a reset, which always bugs me, though I suspected it as soon as I reached the aforementioned earthquake. They're even worse to clean up after than bombs.
review 2: This was not the best Torchwood novel but it was quite good. Baxendale also authored "Something in the Water" and has a good grasp on the characters. There were some glaring bits, such as Gwen saying "Captain Jack" instead of just Jack as she normally does, and a bit of contradictio... moren in description, but overall it was an interesting story. Don't read if you are very squeemish, though, there's some gross stuff described in this book. less
