review 1: I loved this author's other books (the Chaos Walking trilogy) and this book did not disappoint even though he was finishing a story outlined by another author who passed away in 2007. The narrative style, while a little unconventional, felt unique and appropriately applied to the degrees of angst felt by someone who's loved-one is grappling with cancer and the lies we tell ourselves, for better or for worse, to deal with painful truths. Definitely recommend.
review 2: This book not only lives up to its praise, it completely and utterly deserves it! The story is breathtakingly beautiful and captivating. The writing is at all times brilliant, sad, moving, and life-changing. But I cannot write this review without also complimenting the gorgeous and haunting illust... morerations. They match the story perfectly and I would stare at each one for a few minutes before turning the page. Everything about this book is amazing and I cannot wait to read it again. less
