review 1: I read "Ivy in Bloom" because the synopsis drew me in. It was not what I expected but it was yet another cute book wiht beautiful illustrations. I understood the poetry and how it described the lounging of spring when it's still winter. But I didn't knew that the author incorporated famous poets' and writers' poems and texts into the "Ivy poem". I found out when I finished it and there was a few pages where the author introduced the full poem and parts that she used in the "Ivy Poem". It was odd and weird. But the "Ivy poem" itself was quite good. It was an ok read.
review 2: Contemporary poet Oelschlager cleverly weaves lines from classic poems (such as Dickinson and Whitman) into her poem about a young girl impatiently waiting for spring to arrive. Back mater
... moreial includes the complete classical poem with the lines Oelschlager borrowed highlighted in green. Colorful block cut illustrations beautifully complement Oelschlager's own poem. This will be a wonderful addition for for PreS-2 collections. Review based on publisher's e-galley. less

The illustrations were good but I found the construction of the poetry in this book poor.
