review 1: I don't think this was one of Veronica Henry's best, simply because I found there were too many characters. It was her usual format of a chapter per character, but I'm sure we must have been half way through the book before we'd met all the characters (I'm only half joking!) That said, the stories were good and I particularly enjoyed the story of Elodie which was the 'historical to present day' element of the book. Good chick lit if that's what you like. I still love reading about Everdene and the beach huts - it sounds idyllic.
review 2: Another fantastic book by Veronica Henry, she just gets better and better. I love the way this book tells each person's story in chunks, and just as you really get into it another chapter starts with another story. I did w... moreonder about three quarters of the way through whether (or quite how) all the strands would come together, but they did, beautifully. I'm still sitting here at half past nine in my pyjamas (having had a little cry) and feeling quite bereft now it's over. The characters are wonderful, the setting is so evocative, it's absolutely a cracking book for a summer read. less
