review 1: When getting the updates for this book from the author, I was really looking forward to this book. The idea of a woman avoiding true love and the man being the romantic sounded really appealing. However, for some reason, I found I didn't like Delilah very much. I did like Sam a lot and there was a bit of their interactions that I thought were really funny, but overall, it just didn't work for me that much.
review 2: I would have rated this 4 stars but for the fact that I think the book could have been shorter. I felt there was a lot of "fill".Delilah, Lady Hargate, is the sister of the bride, Camille. She has accompanied Camille and her fiance Gray Elliott to New York. While at a costume ball, she meets Samuel Russell and they are immediately attracted to each... more other. Wanting to do something totally unexpected for once in her life, she spends the night with Sam. After returning to England, she thinks she will never see Sam again but he pops up several weeks before the wedding and stays at their family home. Once again, they spend the night together but she tells him she is looking for a wealthy man with a title to be her second husband. She tells Sam they are too different.Delilah loves Sam and he loves her. Everyone tries to talk sense into her but she is stubborn. Finally Sam has had enough. He presents Delilah with a contract, one that she is finally agreeable with. less
