review 1: A young woman in Delhi is offered a chance to become the CEO of one of India's major corporations, if she can pass seven tests of her character. The premise is amusingly unlikely and the story full of high adventure and moral lessons, but it's a fun bit of escapism and it addresses some significant social issues in India, such as corruption, child labor, sexual oppression, and conservative traditional village politics. Enjoyable escapism.
review 2: Initially I was disappointed by this book as I had just loved "Six Suspects", and was expecting to be swept away. While the basic plot is quite unbelievable, nonetheless I soon found myself swept up in it and staying up until 2:30 in the morning to finish it.
