review 1: A very simple and quick read and is definitely a recommendation for aspiring writers of all ages.Not only does it gives advice,it also shows Walter Deans Myers own methods of how he writes and you get a glimpse of what's in his notebooks and how he plans out his fiction and non-fiction novels.The book is also a biography of sorts as well, as he talks about his family,his days as a youth,and the inspiration behind his stories.The minute I heard that Walter Dean Myers,an author I admire,had a book out about writing,I wanted to pick it up immediately The title says mainly what a budding writer(such as myself) should do and that's just write.
review 2: I originally picked this book up to pass along to a few of my students. Each year I have one or two aspiring auth... moreors. I always find it fascinating to hear how other authors approach the writing process. Walter Dean Myers offers great advice for teen and young adult authors. His writing style is so engaging and personal that you feel that he is sitting in the room having this conversation with just you. Although I bought the book for my freshmen, I found a couple of gems that I might try for myself. Great little book for aspiring young writers. less
