Leonid McGill
review 1: This novel continues to follow the reformed Leonid McGill in his constant challenge to earn a living, take care of his family, eke out some joy for himself, while walking a fine line between ethics and corruption. Diversity is elemental with the mix of cultures, ethnicities and lifestyles as Leonid tries to solve the crime. What a balancing act, especially as his wife, who was mainly that in name only, has become more inclined to becoming part of his life again.
review 2: After a slow start, I really enjoyed this book. The writing is fascinating; every few pages there's a sentence or phrase that you would never find anywhere else and that you read over a few times to enjoy it. No cliches here! As for suspense, I don't think I've ever encountered a book with mo
... morere plot twists. Just when you think you've understood what's going on, it becomes clear that you didn't. Mostly this is handled deftly, sometimes trickily. All in all, an interesting world view and a book worth reading again. less
