review 1: Part five in the dreaded and hated serial series...was another quick read. The plot was again advanced but...I was jarred out of the story because of the requisite cliffhanger. I still don't have an emotional investment in these characters because the books are over before they start and more often than not, I am apathetic at best about the story. Since the books are so short, we don't get in depth looks at people or relationships mentioned. And what irks me the most is that after it is all said and done, the publisher expects readers to shell out almost double what they would have spent on the book if the book had just been written and not broken apart like this. I think I'll just avoid this type of book in the future, unless the entire series is out at once and I can pur... morechase and read it "in one sitting" as it were.
review 2: I was looking for audio books thru my library to listen to on my iPhone and I came across this series. So far I have listened to 5 of the 6 books in the series. The story line is interesting enough but the writing is just simply lacking. There are way too many unnecessary details that bog the story down - at least when listening to the audio. Each book is quite short yet at times it seems to drag on and on without meaningful progress in the story. In all honesty, if he subject matter wasn't about love, marriage, and having a baby, I'd think it would be a children's book. The writing just comes across as juvenile, going into detail to explain things as you would to a child. I do intend to read book 6, as it does not appear to be out in audio format yet, so perhaps I will feel differently after reading the book instead of listening to it... less
