review 1: Like so many other books in my life, I wanted to like this zombie novel and in truth there's nothing terribly wrong with it. The story (3 different groups trying to survive a flu epidemic turned zombie apocalypse) is believable and covers almost all angles of the situation. The characters are also complicated and easy to keep track of. That being said, I just couldn't get into Wayne Simmons' story or his style of writing. Perhaps it was that, after reading (and watching) so many takes on zombie over the summer, I couldn't find anything that set this particular novel apart. It could also be that the plot started to ramble about 50 pages in, and I found myself relating to the ensemble of characters less and less because I was getting bored. Either way, I don't regret r... moreeading this book, but I also have no intentions of reading the sequel or any future publications.
review 2: I'm sorry I've wasted my time reading this book. There's nothing in it. Atmosphere? Intriguing characters? Fast-paced plot? Forget about it all if you are going to read "Flu".I'm also annoyed with the amount of f-words that are used everywhere for no reason. I'm not a prude and I don't mind any kind of language in a book - as long as it belongs there. In this case, it was swearing for swearing's sake. I've read quite a lot of zombie books and I don't think any of them ever had such unlikeable characters and such boring writing style. Brrr. less

Fairly generic zombie apocalypse tale. Not badly done, but nothing special about it either.
