review 1: 11 BirthdaysBy Wendy MassReview by Shannon Rust This novel was about a two children named Leo and Amanda. They were born on the same day and have spent all of their birthdays together for ten years. At their tenth birthday party, Leo said that he does not want to be friends with a girl. For that whole year, they did not speak or even approach each other. On their eleventh birthday, something strange happens. Amanda and Leo’s birthdays are repeated over and over again eleven times. Leo realizes that Amanda is going through eleven birthdays, just like himself. Then, Leo asks Amanda to go to the courtyard to talk. Amanda comes and they talk about their eleven birthdays. After that, they realize that they need to be friends. All throughout the book, Amanda and Leo have that ... morespecial friendship like a brother and sister.I really liked this book! However, the beginning is a little boring, but towards the end of the book, I could not put it down! Wendy Mass created a series if these books. This is only the first book. I highly recommend this book because it taught kids that some words can not be forgivable.
review 2: The first book in the Willow Falls series, 11 Birthdays by Wendy Mass, is short but action-packed. The book starts eleven years before the main characters Leo and Amanda turn eleven, in a hospital. Angelina, a nurse with many different occupations besides working in the hospital (as we find out later), is checking on little Amanda and Leo. Years pass between this chapter and the next, and the readers see that Amanda and Leo are now best friends. One never without the other. But this year something is different. Leo and Amanda aren't talking and haven’t been since their tenth birthday, in fact. Amanda’s eleventh birthday doesn't start out very well and doesn't get much better as the day goes on. She is incredibly glad the day is over when she wakes up the next day. Or what she thinks to be the next day. After many different twists and turns, including meeting Angelina again and when Leo and Amanda start talking, everything finally gets worked out. This is an amazing book that will keep you on the edge and turning pages so fast you’ll be done reading the book before you realize you started it. less

I loved this book. It had a lot of tension and I could not put the book down.

I enjoyed it, but it was too predictable for five stars.
