review 1: One of the reasons I read this book was that the main character had my name...Amanda. But this book had sooo many other great reasons to love it! So Amanda's turning 11 years old, and her best friend, Leo, turns 11 on the same day. They've spent their birthdays together for every year, but not this one. Because on the night of their 10th birthday, Leo said some nasty things about Amanda behind her back, and she heard. She hasn't spoken to him since. Her 11th birthday doesn't turn out too great. Leo is hosting a grand birthday party with a football star, a giant lizard, and a magician, while Amanda is having a Hollywood themed party that she hates. But then, her 11th birthday repeats again, and again, and again. She can't tell what's going on! Nobody else realizes this is h... moreappening! Leo is the only other person who knows that their birthday is repeating. Read this book right now, because you're missing out if you haven't!
review 2: Keep in mind for fans of Dork Diaries or fans of realistic fiction who have to read fantasy for school.Groundhogs day for tweens. Ever since their parents met in the hospital on the day they were born, Amanda and Leo have celebrated their birthdays together, until their tenth birthday when Amanda overheard Leo saying that he wished he didn’t have to. Now, on their eleventh birthday, they’re having separate parties but Amanda discovers that she’s living the day over and over.Very cute. The story deals quite a bit with the idea of popularity and the impact that the sudden need to avoid looking uncool has on kids at that age. The main character is an average, relatable girl who has to deal with friends (and an older sister) who are pulling away from her to pursue a more popular crowd. less
