review 1: Good plot. Absolute garbage writing. I can only hope that the problem with the language was one of translation--but I kept thinking to myself, "There certainly isn't this level of inanity in any Peter Hoeg novels." At times I had to re-read and wonder to myself how a certain passage was allowed to stay in the book. Did she not have an editor? ... moren Greenland. They are contending with the weather, poor communication and limited transportation and hostility from local villagers (plus a dark, mysterious presence!) There is a great deal of interest about Greenlandic recent history and beliefs and health problems. But there is just too much that seemed unbelievable in the interactions and plot line - had trouble maintaining my interest. less
