review 1: This is another great installment in Ace Atkins' series about Quinn Colson, Army Ranger turned sheriff in rural Mississippi. This time he's dealing with escaped convicts who are somehow connected to his sister's new boyfriend, an ex con turned preacher. On top of that, there's a flood followed by a destructive tornado, Quinn's love life is a mess and his old enemy, Johnny Stagg, is gunning for him. Lots of action--definitely movie potential here. Somehow this book feels darker than the first two in the series, although they all contain plenty of murder and mayhem. Perhaps it's just knowing that there's this dark cloud on Quinn's horizon.

... moreading Lisa Howorth's "Flying Shoes"; I'll get the next in the Quinn Colson series when I drop back by the Carrollton library later today. In this book, he's incorporated a real life tornado into the fictional Tibbeha, as he has also worked his changing magic on deeds and characters of many real life villains, politicians, and just plain folk, most likely. How will he treat Quinn, Caddy, Lillie and Rose, Jason and Sarah, and the rest of his people in the next novel in this Quinn Colson series? Can't wait. less
