review 1: This book was absolutely stunning and amazing. There were a few grammatical errors in it, but nothing that couldn't be read past in order to delver into the fortifying depths of the love between lover and brother. Jon had absolutely no idea what he was getting himself into when he decided to be with Ellis, but he loves Ellis so much nothing will deter him from being with him. Rudy, Ellis' brother, loves Jon because Jon makes Ellis happy and Ellis finally has a family. The first book in the trilogy made me immediately buy the next two once I finished it. Definitely a good read and highly recommended by me.
review 2: A dark and creepy story that starts off (without a bang, thank goodness) with plenty of angst and emotional turmoil. The characters cover the spectr
... moreum from child-like savant innocent to soulless violent murderer. In between on the good end of the spectrum, are the two protagonists who fall in love after being thrown together by Rudy, a developmentally challenged adult who lives with his younger brother. Now, throughout the story there are hints to something supernatural and something absolutely evil. These threads do not materialize to be part of the story in this first book of the series. I have to say, with how disturbing I found The First Three Rules, I don't know if I can handle the next two books if something other-worldly is added to the mix. EEEEEKKKKK! Needless to say, if a book can incite an emotional response (fear, anger, disbelief, compassion, relief), then I believe it is well written. This story seems unique for its particular genre, and in my humble opinion, a worthy thriller-suspense story for any adrenaline dependent book addicts. less
