review 1: This is a different type of story. It deals with the "Law of Unintended Consequences" and, in a surreal manner, how to deal with them. The story has a dual time-line--2014 and 2147 with the same cast of characters in a 'what if' situation. Character development is hard to pin down because all of them are portrayed in both time frames, and, in some cases communicate with themselves. This is not a bad story, just not up to the standard set by Riddle's THE ORIGIN trilogy.
review 2: I've been a fan of the author ever since stumbling across The Atlantis Gene, going on to read, and love, the follow up books. This is a totally new story with new characters so you don't need to have read his previous work (although I'd strongly recommend it!), and this is also a s
... moretand alone book, you won't be left waiting for a sequel. On starting the book I first wondered if perhaps the author had somehow forgotten about the TV show Lost, the story starts with a flight crashing down and a mystery as to where they are. It soon became clear this was a very different story, thank goodness as did anyone not think they were all dead in Lost from the first season?!I won't reveal any more of the story, I will say that the book is written very from the point of view of two characters, with chapters based from the point of view of one character or the other. This works really well and allows not only for good character depth but also gives the author more freedom in story telling, it helps keep the pace up and makes this a cracking read.Really pleased to see the author isn't a one series kind of writer, looking forward to reading more of his work. I also like the little updates at the end of the book, its nice to read about the inspiration for the story and be told what's going on in life. With his original trilogy being so well received it's great to see someones passion really paying off. Keep up the good work! less

I really liked the first third and last third but the middle bit was extremely ludicrous.

Loved the first 3rd of the book. It got confusing in the middle but ended well.

A well-written and thought provoking page-turner. Hard to put down.
