review 1: Solitary: Escape from Furnace by Alexander Gordon Smith is the second book in this series and is a very exciting book! This book is about Zee, Gary, and our main character Alex who are trying again to escape from the underground prison, Furnace Penitentiary. They venture deeper into caves and tunnels under Furnace hoping for freedom and encountering more evil secrets! This book has very fun and cool dialogue and lots of great characters. This book has one weakness unlike the other book I have read in this series. That is the plot, in some scenes, I was a little confused were they were or what they were exactly doing. Otherwise, this book is great like the others. One of it's best factors are the suspense! And again, this book can only be described by the word INSANE! So in... more all, I think that Alexander Gordon Smith's "Solitary" is a great book, but not as good as the first and third.
review 2: SPOILER ALERT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This book ended differently than I expected. I thought after Alex jumped into the river, he would have been searching the caves for an exit while avoiding the dogs that where following them, but Instead the warden finds them and puts Gary in the infirmary to be turned into a blacksuit, and Zee and Alex into the hole for a month. After a little, Zee and Alex rip the grate for the toilet off and start communicating through a series of taps. Some time after, the boy they met in the caves while running from the dogs lets them out and tells them they have another chance to escape. The boy's name was Simon, and they found out he was a failed blacksuit experiment. It turns out the wheezers's serum doesn't work on everyone and the ones that fail get thrown into the incinerator. Later, Simon, Alex and Zee Try to escape through the ventilation pipe from the incinerator and get caught. Will Alex get turned into a blacksuit or escape again? less

Some good action sequences, but so depressing. The humbleness of the narrator came off as false.
