review 1: Now, as I'm sitting in a high school cafeteria, I will write this review. I normally write reviews in the comfort of my own bedroom, but we have no internet and no internet means my phone is basically useless. Okay, anyways, I shouldn't babble on. Lets get to my review. First things first, this book scared the crap out of me. I like to read at eleven o'clock at night, when the house is fairly quiet, but I cant with a book like this. This book was actually scarier than the first one, but I still imagined the same things. Wheezers. What are those you might ask? They are hell on earth. Correction, hell below earth because in Furnace, beneath heaven is hell and beneath hell is Furnace. You never want to commit a crime or you might end up like Alex, a convicted crimminal. He di... moredn't really murder his friend Toby, but he was sent to Furnace anyways. In this book, Alex is sent to the hole and its literally just a hole in the ground. No light, no sound. Alex starts to hallucinate. One of the hallucinations is his buddy Donovan, who they promised to come back for after they escaped. But things didnt go as planned. They, Zee and Alex and Gary, never really made it out of Furnace and were caught. So in comes Simon, a boy who wants freedom, a boy who was turned into a monster just like Donovan. Together, Zee, Simon and Alex figure out a plan, a way to finally escape Furnace. But they never do. This book by Alexander Gordon Smith left me breathless.
review 2: This book was definitely a good sequel. In the beginning of this book around 100 pages the main character is just locked in solitary. Which you would imagine that is very boring. But the author made it still readable which is really rare. I think it ended at a part where you need to buy the next one which was pretty clever. I like how he always ends these books with a really good cliff hanger. You would definitely have to buy all the books cause you cant just stop reading after the book you have just read. less
