review 1: Wow. This is a book to remember. I know it took me like 2 weeks to read, but damn was this book a heart pounding, page turning thriller. I loved it. I noticed that Alex changed in this book. He became a completely different person. He had strength where no one else could problary find it. I think I have a crush on him. In this book, Alex becomes a blacksuit. A monster. But not completley. We are reintroduced to Simon, a boy just like Alex. There's heartbreak, laughter and I love how Donovan is mentioned in the story alot. Donovan was one of my favorite characters and I was sad when Alex stuck the pillow on his face. The warden is a bigger part of this story. And you are shown the true horrors of Furnace. But they made it. Alex did it. Escaped from the terrifying bowels of ... moreFurnace, but this series is far from over. What will Zee, Simon, Alex and all the rest of the inmates get into next?
review 2: I chose this book because it sounded good and I liked the other books in the series. This is the third in the series about Alex Sawyer, who has failed at two attempts to escape from the Furnace. He is locked into solitary confinement because he tried to escape. They decide to make Alex one of them so they inject him with some nectar. My favorite quote was "And if there's nothing left of you but darkness, how can you not become a monster?' I like this quote because it means that in order to be good, you have to hold onto some light even in the hardest times. Alex is struggling to do this. I like the author's writing style because it kept me interested in the book. It was told in the first person point of view by Alex Sawyer. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes science fiction. It is very suspenseful and holds your attention. less
