The Thresl Chronicles
review 1: I really enjoyed the first book in this series. The idea of alien cat shifters mating with their humans was really appealing to me. This book is the sequel and the continuation of a few of the story threads from the first book. It wasn't as good as the first book for a few reasons, but it was still a good read that left me eager for the next book to find out what happens next.Prince Bleine tries to wait patiently for his new mate Sarlar to get used to the situation, but he despairs his mate will ever accept him because he's male. Bleine is determined to release Sarlar from their mate bond if he can find a way not wanting to tie someone to him who doesn't wish to be and Bleine also decides that he is done trying for a new mate.Sarlar is still reeling from being suddenly... more mated to the Thresl Prince and to being in an open male/male relationship which is frowned upon on his home world. He comes to the decision that he really wants to be with Bleine, but things start to happen and he now fears that he's too late.Vohne, Kres and Bleine are in a race to find and interpret the ancient prophesies, discover the traitors on their planet and keep the royals safe. Just when they think they've drawn closer to some answers more secrets are revealed- dangerous secrets. While I really enjoyed the race the heroes are all in to discover the traitors and uncover their plot and I really enjoyed the slow to grow romance between Bleine and Sarlar, I found the ending abrupt and I felt that this installment was just missing something. Maybe it was that connection that I felt between Vohne and Kres that spoiled me since Bleine and Sarlar didn't seem to spend as much time together.Hopefully, the next installment will return some of what I missed from the first book. And hopefully, we'll get more of that intriguing black Thresl that was introduced in this story.
review 2: Quite disappointing. No where near as good as the first. I'm not even sure the mates were a good match. I feel like the book is simply a medium to continue the backstory in the series as opposed to making the couple the main focus. Not to mention the one sex scene lacked passion and lust. It did very little to reassure me of the couples relationship. I'm bummed since I had really looked forward to the continuation of this series but now I'm not so sure. ...2.5stars less

...nevermind. First page (or maybe it was second) and I was already bored out of my mind.
