review 1: Comprei o livro após ler o maravilhoso (e forte) A Caixa Preta do autor. Classificado como infanto juvenil é uma espécie de fábula tratando de um tema meio em voga, o bullying, que sempre existiu mas com um nome mais brasileiro. É legalzinho mas faltou encanto, fantasia e carisma, não sei se agradaria aos pequenos leitores. Parece ter faltado um final mas é apenas um gancho para reflexão.""Nos acostumaram a só nos alegrarmos com o que temos, se o que temos for só nosso e de mais ninguém. E pior do que isso, nos acostumaram desde a infância a nos agarrarmos a todo tipo de ideias venenosas que começam sempre com as palavras: Mas todo mundo..."""A professora Emanuela explicou à classe como é um urso, como os peixes respiram e que sons a hiena produz à noite. E... morela também pendurou na sala gravuras ee animais e aves. Quase todos os alunos debocharam dela, porque nunca na vida tinham visto um animal sequer. E muitos deles não acreditaram que existissem no mundo tais criaturas."
review 2: N came across this one herself in her library wanderings. The author's name rang a bell for me, and I was intrigued to see that he is, indeed, a famous author. She loves the book--I think the mystery and strangeness of the fable and the poetry of the language appeal to her. She also was pleased that the girl character is braver than the boy. Like others, though, she was disappointed in the ending.ETA: It seems like mine is the only review of this book featuring An Actual Live Child. People seem to doubt that kids would read or like this. My daughter (age 10) is a pretty voracious reader and the message and themes of this book are up her alley--but she did read it, of her own volition, in one day, and she really liked it. less
