review 1: I am torn between calling this story poorly written or poorly edited. So, I think I will go with both. The entire book seems to be missing so much. There is little to no real descriptive narratives. There are no segues between scenes. There is very little continuity to the outline. And, there is zero ingenuity. This one seemed like it was thrown together, haphazardly, without a lot of thought or reworking. It almost comes across like a rough draft. I hate giving reviews like this. I don't want to demean the time and effort writers put into their work. I am such a huge bookworm and appreciate everything authors do to make my world larger, more adventurous and enjoyable. Occasionally though, some works just don't work. I don't recommend this story. A... morend, I have decided not to pursue this series. I had all the other "Love Means" novels in my amazon 'to purchase' cart. They have all been removed now. Sorry Mr. Grey. I was underwhelmed.
review 2: This is a very sweet story about Eli, who is on his year away from the Amish community and Geoff who just moved back to the family farm after his father passes away. It's so sweet watching Eli court Geoff once he knows that Geoff is gay and Eli comes to terms with his own homosexuality.Not all is strawberries and flowers, though. Geoff has a herridan of aunt that causes some trouble and nearly succeeds in making everyone as miserable as she.Andrew Grey's writing style has evolved a lot since 2009 when this book was released, so the writing style of this book isn't the same quality that his more recent books are. Nonetheless, it's such a sweet story I couldn't help but give it 4 stars. less
