review 1: I was really excited to see that Anne Perry had written a novel set in Constantinople c. 1278-80. I enjoyed learning about the history of this city and getting a different perspective on the crusades. (Just like today, one issue is what horror is inflicted on innocent people in the name of religion!) I listened to this really long book (16 CDs) and was disappointed. It se wasn't nearly so much fun as her nineteenth century series.
