review 1: This is the first book I have read by this author, and I loved it. It is not a fairy tale, nor scary gory book. It has a lot of depth, and mystery, as well as twists and turns. I loved the couple who faces evil down, and have done so before. I will not spoil it, but it is a very good, and engrossing book.I did not read the book prior to this, but the author catches you up, so you are not lost. I plan to read other books, by this author,as I really like her style. I was pleased with the ending, and felt it went very well with the story.
review 2: Good James Asher vampire novel. It's London in 1913, and Lydia and James Asher are realizing that they have crossed the bridge into vampire world and can never go back. Though they detest most vampires, now that the vam
... morepires know they know of their existence, they will not let them alone. The master vampire of London kidnaps their baby to force them to hunt another vampire who has crossed the Channel and is invading their territory. Mix that up with James being away for most of the novel and Lydia having to take her niece to debutante balls where high society mix, and you have the makings of a good story, full of thrilling chases, quiet desperation, and steely resolve. less
