A Stacy Justice Mystery
review 1: This series must be read in order. The first book is Opal Fire (A Stacy Justice Mystery Book One). The second book is Bloodstone (A Stacy Justice Mystery Book Two). The third book is Tiger's Eye (A Stacy Justice Mystery Book Three). The book after this one is Obsidian Curse (A Stacy Justice Mystery).Stacy is in a bind... She was supposed to have another whole year to study before she was tested and confirmed as the Seeker of Justice... Only her grandmother Birdie informs her that magickally speaking she has been on this plane of existence for 30 years as of her 29th birthday which happens to be this Mabon. On top of all of that on Samhain she is supposed to go before the council in Ireland to fight for her mother's freedom. This series is one of my favorites :) I adore Stac... morey's spunky and sassy can do attitude! No matter what the odds she refuses to give up or give in. Jam packed with supernatural action and adventures... Spiced up with darkly humorous and sometimes slapstick antics I am always entertained from begining to end of each book. I can't wait to read the next instalment!!***This series is suitable for adult readers
review 2: I received a free copy of this book through Goodreads first reads. What a great read for the month of Halloween! Witches, Warlocks and Ghosts oh my! What an adventure. Emerald Isle is actually the fourth installment of the Stacy Justice series, however, the book works well as a "stand alone" novel as well. Going into this book I felt that there was enough background information given that I didn't feel like I was missing anything. Stacy is turning 29 and her eccentric Aunts are getting ready to throw a huge birthday bash to start off her 30th year. (Which is when witches reach their full power.) Stacy comes from a long line of witches and wizards and has been destined for greatness since the night of her birth. This book was full of loveable characters. It's pages were packed with mystery, suspense, and humor. There were alternate dimensions, time travel, an enchanted castle, and a vengeful spirit. As the story unfolded with witches, magic spells, and ghostly messengers the author kept the story moving and the pages turning. It was interesting to read about Pagan holidays and rituals (something that I am unfamiliar with.) However there were elements in this story that disappointed me. Number 1: if you're going to write a sex scene, you have to do it well - or leave it out! In my opinion this one should have been left out. It would have been enough for me to know that Stacy had a boy friend and they were close (without the whole badly written sex scene.) At this particular place in the story the reader hadn't developed any kind of emotional connection to either of the characters. The next morning Stacy heads off on a quest and we never see the boy friend (Chase) for the rest of the book. So that scene, to me, was utterly pointless, and as I've said, poorly executed. Number 2: the language was atrocious! There was so much vulgarity. The swear words are so prevalent - even the main character's inner dialogue is riddled with them. That is just so foreign to me, I, myself don't use that kind of language and don't associate with many people who do either so it grated on me to read all of the cursing. I think that if this book was cleaned up a bit (sans the sex and the profanity) it would make an excellent Young Adult novel. As it is now, I feel like it is inappropriate for the under 16 crowd. It's such a pity for the author to limit her audience like that. Over all, great story, and fun read - with a few exceptions (as stated.) less

Not a lot of depth but I like this series for a quick, fun read.
