review 1: My Rating: 4.5/5With plenty of thrills, secrets, and lovely romance, Of Silk and Steam was a fantastic steampunk romance. It had engaging characters, plots and betrayals, and I really enjoyed all of it.Mina was a great heroine. She was very strong, clever, and loyal to those she cared about. It definitely wouldn't do to underestimate her. My only issue was that I got vaguely frustrated at how she was unable to let herself trust Leo. He had proven himself her match and earned her trust but she still held on to hesitance. I understood her reasoning, but I was also somewhat annoyed. But, other than that, I really liked her.Leo was wonderful. He knew and loved Mina exactly as she was and he strong and smart enough to be able to keep up with her. He was also sweet, compassionat... moree, and just overall adorable. I really liked him as well. The romance was lovely. Mina and Leo were perfect together. They were definitely each other's match and one hell of a team when they worked together. And the chemistry between them was there from the start and definitely turned up the heat. The plot moved quickly and kept me hooked all the way through. There were plenty of thrills, secrets, and betrayals that kept me on the edge of my seat. I really liked the story and I thought the ending was perfect.Of Silk and Steam was a dark, thrilling, and very enjoyable steampunk romance. From start to finish, it was an excellent read. Romance lovers, this is a book you won't want to miss.*I received a complimentary copy from the publisher in exchange for an honest review
review 2: 4.5 Stars. Barron and Mina, finally. They've been dancing around each other forever...but it was well worth the wait. Full review to come later. This series continues to be one of the better Steampunk series currently being written. From the amazing airships to the mech armies used to attack the rookeries, the story is a nonstop roller coaster ride. Add to that the excellent wordbuilding, fascinating plotline, and steamy romance, and Bec McMaster has herself another winner. All of the story is an excellent read, but once Mina and Barrons come together working on the same side, the story explodes in intensity and passion. Plus, lots of fun little peeks into the lives of previous couples! less
