review 1: I randomly picked this from the library shelf, and was at first really confused by the terms and storyline. (also maybe because I started in the middle of a series). Halfway in, and I still did not get what was going on, many characters and names were introduced, and I had a hard time keeping up. However, still an interesting read. I liked how magic and detective work was mixed in together, though I wish more of the magic could be demonstrated. The twist at the end really had me too, and I loved how Aaronovitch fleshed out the characters and brought life to the personalities. I really liked the attitude and humour in the tone. Going to search for the rest of the series. :)
review 2: I am fully hooked on this series, absolutely love it. The only reason these boo
... moreks don't get 5 stars is because I like clean/fully explained endings, whereas a lot of things are never answered or cleared up in these stories. which is fine and likely is a more accurate representation of modern policing and the character himself often ponders my same questions...but sometimes I just want the answers lol. still, fun awesome reads even if I think I do miss some of the subtler aspects of British humor. less
