Scot Harvath
review 1: To my mind the author is now letting his own political perceptions sneak into the plotlines, and the books are starting to suffer for it. At one point there was Russian mafia involvement, and I had hoped that they would be a suitable foe for Scot Harvath to pit his wits against. Sadly that idea was short lived, and so it was back to the stereotypical middle eastern terrorist groups. At least not all of the terrorist attacks happened on American soil, even though they were targetted against American nationals. Despite the fact that Harvath is no longer in direct government employment it seems as though he can still get assistance from on high. If you include the Athena Group of operatives it is all starting to get a bit far fetched. One saving grace was the reappearance of ... morethe character, The Troll
review 2: The usual spy stuff. I like that. Fighting and killing terrorists around the world and in the U.S. I like that. Makes me a conspiracy sister. I couldn't help imagining Peter Dinklage as Nicolas The Troll. The Troll's cohort, Padre Peio a former agent, said something that really touched me. He said, "No one is beyond God's love and mercy.", in reference to Nicolas and the other bad guys he's encountered. We all have done a lot of bad things in our life. I didn't expect to find such a beautiful idea in an action adventure book.Oh, and the Athena Team, an all women team of agents, are some bad ass bitches. I think Thor should write some stories centered around them. They get the job done. less

I enjoy Brad Thor's series about Horvath, but I found this one slower than usual.
