review 1: This is possibly about book 10 in the Scot Harvath series, and it does seem to be getting increasingly far fetched in places. Thankfully the jingoism seems to have been wound down a little bit, but it still reads a little like how one man continuously saves America. The common enemy, the terrorists, are still quite stereotypical, but a new element has been thrown into the mix, their puppet masters. It still seems odd that the Troll should have been brought into the main stream, I feel as though his role could still have been written with him lurking in the shadow world. As a series I am still enjoying the books, but that might be due to the fact that I am reading them in order, had I picked this book up first then I might not be so favourable in my out... morelook.
review 2: Great action-suspense thriller. Lots of intrigue, shooting, bad guys and good guys. My first Brad Thor book and I have already started to read the next Brad Thor book. There is a good bit of social commentary on the state of affairs in the USA, geopolitics, socialism vs capitalism. There are veiled references to many modern day players on the world stage. If you like Tom Clancy you will like Brad Thor. less
