review 1: This was a great book. I know this was a great book, because it kept my wife's interest--she generally dislikes spy/thriller books. Foreign Influence was fast-paced non-stop action. I read/heard this book a little out of order so I was glad that Thor gave some background/history how Harvath started working for Carlton. I really liked the domestic touch (Chicago cops) added to Harvath international travels.. I am looking forward to reading the Athena Project.
review 2: This was one of those stories I'd never think of to read (or listen to as was the case here), but I had another long road trip and thought this would be a good compromise audio book that would be fast paced and be interesting to me, and my BF. It had a great pace and despite the heavy milita
... morery and counter-terrorism lingo it was easy to follow. The audio book narrator was fantastic. The start of the novel was heavy on the murders and death, which I was concerned would be the tone of the book, which it was, but the mystery was exciting. Make no mistake, this book is not at all about character development, it is about plot and mystery. I didn't like or dislike anyone character, they all were there to move the plot forward and not to write college essays about. I would recommend the story and especially the audio book for folks who have a long road trip, or even for listening to while doing household chores or going for a jog. It most certainly will get your mind off the task at hand and focused on the twists and turns of the mystery. less
