review 1: Sanderson's world building is impeccable. His characters are interesting. His world rules are consistent. His writing style is engaging. The illustrations are evocative. The plot is labyrinthine (in a good way). The different cultures and customs make the universe feel expansive. There is a good balance of action and characters thinking and interacting. Characters make choices that you are emotionally affected by, for either good or ill. Be forewarned that there are a LOT of characters and locations that you need to keep straight as you read the series, though Sanderson does an admirable job in subtly reintroducing characters when they pop up after a long absence. I look forward to reading the next books in the series.
review 2: This book was fantastic all the
... moreway to the end, and definitely lots of little surprises along the way. Now I'll have to wait until the next book is released, but despite that this book is a part of a still uncompleted series, the story wraps up enough at the end to feel satisfying. There are enough questions leading into another book, but it's not one of those books that ends with a huge cliffhanger that makes it really annoying to need to wait for the next book. It's a story unto itself and I really appreciate that the author wrote it as such. I'm still looking forward to the next one though! less

9: Like all Sanderson books I have read so far, it is not great litterature, but it is a lot of fun.
